Mission Statement

Through the years, music has been a force that has unifying powers.  These powers speak to the human emotion, allowing order to transcend disorder and chaos and bring diverse cultures together for the betterment of humanity.  Embracing this belief, the Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship is established with a mission in focus that will encourage and promote the art of choral music.   It is expected that students will master the skills and acquire the knowledge that will lead to the highest quality of choral music performance in the state of Arkansas.

Eligibility Guidelines

The Arkansas Chamber Singers Vocal/Choral Music Scholarship is available to any graduating senior from a public or private high school in Arkansas.  The student must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 and must major in music with emphasis in choral or vocal performance at an accredited four-year institution of higher education.  A high school transcript must accompany the application to document the grade point average.  The student applicant must also be enrolled in the choral music program (curriculum) at the high school in which he or she attends. The $2,000 music scholarship award will be paid directly to the student upon verification of college enrollment.

To Apply

Submit the following, postmarked no later than April 1, 2024

  • Completed Scholarship Application (pdf)
  • Three sealed letters of recommendation (one from your high school choral music teacher, one from another of your high school teachers and one from a community leader)
  • Submit a typewritten essay of at least 300 words, (not to exceed 325 words) detailing your desire to have a career in the field of music
  • Official sealed high school transcript

Audition/Interview

All applicants are required to attend an audition and interview on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, located at 321 Pleasant Valley Road in Little Rock.

The applicant will perform (from the classical genre) two selections of contrasting styles. It is requested that the applicants bring their own accompanists. If not able, please send music ahead for ACS accompanist.

Notification

Scholarship recipient will be notified as soon as possible after the audition/interview process.
