SATIA SPENCER

Satia is a 1997 Graduate of DeWitt High School and has served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant from 1997 to 2002. In 2008, she began to pursue her music degree at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.  She has studied in Urbania, Italy with the Musica Nella Marche summer program in the summer 2009, a program designed to afford aspiring singers the opportunity to study with Italian voice teachers and coaches and to gain a true cultural experience.

Satia’s past UALR Opera Theater roles have included the Old Woman in Sleeping Beauty, Carmen in La Tragedie de Carmen (Peter Brook adaption) and the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors.  She is currently a senior at the college and a member of the two elite choral ensembles, the UALR Chamber Singers and UALR Concert Choir.  Satia is looking forward to her upcoming role as the Third Queen in the UALR Opera theater production of The Magic Flute.
